Senior CAD Designer_Timber Roof Truss Design

Location: Arklow (Office-Based)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Mon–Fri, 39 hours/week)

Our client, a forward-thinking timber engineering company, is looking for an experienced Timber Roof Truss Designer to join their dynamic design team. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who is passionate about delivering precise and innovative timber roof solutions for a wide range of residential and commercial projects.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the structural design of roof trusses, ensuring quality and compliance at every stage of the project. Initially focused on design work, you’ll also contribute to the development of an in-house training programme—sharing your expertise with junior designers and supporting their growth. Over time, your responsibilities may shift to include a greater focus on mentoring and training, depending on the team’s needs and your interests.


Key Responsibilities:

- Design accurate, cost-effective timber roof truss systems based on architectural and structural requirements.
- Utilise MiTek Pamir software to produce detailed, regulation-compliant truss designs and layouts.
- Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and production teams to ensure timely and seamless project delivery.
- Optimise designs for efficiency, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Mentor and collaborate with junior designers, including contributing to the company’s internal training programme.


What You’ll Bring:

- Proven experience in roof truss design, with strong knowledge of timber engineering.
- Familiarity with MiTek Pamir software is highly desirable.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality, compliant designs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with various stakeholders.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.


Desirable Experience:

- Experience in designing timber frame structures or floor joists.
- On-site measurement and design experience.
- A proven track record of leading or mentoring a design team.
